LOT NO: 209    Starting: THB 1200000   Approx: € 30000   1928 King Rama 7, photographic essay for unadopted designs of high values definitive King portrait issue of 1b., 2b., 3b., 5b., 10b., 20b. & 40b. 1928 King Rama 7, photographic essay for unadopted designs of high values definitive King portrait issue of 1b., 2b., 3b., 5b., 10b., 20b. & 40b., each designs similar to the small decimal values but in much larger in sizes, each mounted centrally on a dark-brown sunken card size 92x104mm., upper right corner manuscript dated 23 may 1927; reverse violet oval rubber stamped "Thomas de la Rue & Co., Ltd. London" below also rubber stamped in one line "D.Couper-Johnston & Co."(agent for TDLR in BKK), the actual issue of 7 values 1b.-40b. were finally granted to Waterlow & Son with the design of King in full standing posture and included in this lot for comparison, only the eassy of 10b. & 20b. with several traces of scratches on the essay, a unique and spectacular set, extremely rare exhibition items.
